The Cambridge English: Movers exam aims to encourage and motivate young learners. The candidate will be asked to:
- match definitions to the corresponding words.
- read sentences of a picture and write one-word answers.
- understand the main ideas of a text.
- read a story and complete sentences.
- read and understand factual text.
To be precise, at Part 1 you will be asked to look at a bunch of pictures and read their names. You will then map these names to the proper descriptions. Part 2 is similar to the Starters’ Part 2 – you will first be given one big picture to look at, and then answer a series of yes/no questions. Part 3 is all about picking the best responses to some conversations. One simple picture will be given to indicate the situation in question.
Part 4 is sort of like fill-in-the-blanks, just that the available words and vocabs will be provided (in text and graphics) so all you need to do is to pick and fill. Part 5 is like reading comprehension. You will be asked to look at a picture and then fill in the blanks using max 3 words. You will need to come up with the answers from scratch (the words and vocabs involved are likely related to the common topics of picnics, theatres, food, shop, park, sports …etc). Part 6 has a similar format but the answers are mostly of a grammatical nature.
Do note that the actual exam version you encounter may have a slightly different structure and format!
